ABOUT THE MAGNA DELIVERY BOT

Magna’s delivery bot is an autonomous electric vehicle designed to transport groceries to customers. Customers can place orders for groceries or takeout food using an app. The bot uses lidar sensing technology to navigate roads, collect cargo, and deliver orders to the customer’s designated address.

To bring this concept to life, Linkage was engaged to assist in creating the design and producing the A-surfacing necessary for the final embodiment.

CONCEPT IDEATION

At the onset of the project, our team began by exploring rough concepts for three-wheeled autonomous vehicles, with a focus on maintaining a friendly and approachable design aesthetic.

REFINEMENT

During the sketching process, we were able to refine the initial design concept. Once the design was finalized, we proceeded to further develop the surfacing using CAD.

CONCEPT MODELING

During the CAD development phase, we continued to explore surface development with a more focused direction, enhancing the surfacing and making small adjustments to achieve a final design.

FINAL PRODUCT

The final prototype of the delivery bot was released and put into use in Michigan, where it was utilized to deliver pizza to local customers.

The bot was observed picking up pizza and delivering it to nearby customers, demonstrating its effectiveness in providing a convenient and efficient delivery solution.
