The Linkage Basic Alias Modeling class will focus on teaching basic Alias modeling techniques while introducing the student to the Alias tool layout (shelves, marking menus, etc.); support tools like curve evaluators, surface evaluators, plus some basic rendering techniques will also be covered.
Day 1 Objective: The purpose of this class is to make sure that participants are comfortable using the Alias interface & customizing it. Students should be aware of basic NURBS modeling, anatomy of a curve & evaluating curves. UI layouts, hot keys & marking menus are some of the things covered.
Day 2 Objective: The purpose of this class is to become familiar with developing surface from curves, and/or intersecting surfaces. The students should understand and become comfortable with curve evaluation, basic surface creation tools and design theory techniques. Curve evaluators, surface creation & history are some of the things covered.
Day 3 Objective: The purpose of this class is to build on the previous lesson, and gain a deeper understanding of some of the more advanced options in the surface creation tools. Birail, Square and Continuity are some of the things covered.
Day 4 Objective: The purpose of this class is to become familiar with surface blends and fillets. Students should also be comfortable checking and evaluating their surfaces along with the knowledge of how to correct them. Filleting, Blends & Draft are some of the things covered.
Day 5 Objective: Problem solving techniques. Putting it all together to maintain design intent and meet digital deliverables. Students will work to complete a project defined by the instructor, and reviewed by all at the end of the class.
Day 6 Objective: Final review, final Q&A, testing and evaluation.
